Last month I decided to do a 30 day challenge of yoga every day. I really enjoyed it, so I decided to continue into the the month of June with a summer splits challenge hosted by Beach Yoga Girl and Kino MacGregor. The chart below is the list of poses that they shared on Instagram. Here is my first week of June yoga poses. I’m really looking forward to this challenge because I need to work on my splits. Here are two pictures from May, and I’m about 90% down in my split, and I’m not going to lie, that’s as far as I can go, and it’s kind of uncomfortable. I took dance from ages 4 to 14 and that’s about the best I could always do. I’ve practiced splits over the years, but since I never got any deeper, I thought that was just as far as I could go. I’ve been reading about splits, and in order to go deeper, you need to open your hips in other ways too.
These yoga challenges are awesome because all the poses are explained on how to do them, what they do for your body, and there are different variations if you can’t do the full pose.
